Recent Global Efforts
FEDERAL CONTRACT AWARDED TO SUPPORT U.S. ZIKA EMERGENCY RESPONSE EFFORTS ClinicalRM continues its global leadership role in fighting infectious diseases with a recently awarded federal contract from BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) to collect samples from Zika-positive donors – a crucial step in the development of diagnostic tests for a disease that is a priority for national health organizations. ClinicalRM is committed to finding solutions to address the current outbreak and has established a Zika Consortium by joining forces with researchers from USAMRIID (United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases), SUNY Upstate Medical University, and BARDA to provide ongoing research and potential therapeutics for Zika Virus response efforts, including site assessment, capacity-building, and community outreach.
ClinicalRM continues to be 1 of 5 preferred providers to support BARDA’s MEDICAL COUNTERMEASURES for the development of vaccines, drugs and diagnostics. For more information on this award, click here.
COMBINED EFFORTS WITH MAPP BIOPHARMACEUTICAL TO CONTINUE THE FIGHT AGAINST EBOLA ClinicalRM will again deploy its boots-on-the-ground approach to fighting Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) with an expanded access protocol for ZMapp ™, an investigational treatment for EVD in Africa and the U.S. under a federal contract awarded to Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc. by BARDA. Performing as a subcontractor, this award is the latest instance of government and industry calling for ClinicalRM’s expertise in combating global health crises.
Additionally, ClinicalRM is supporting a 3 site, 800 subject Phase III Ebola Vaccine Study in Sierra Leone and a 4-year safety follow up extension across 10 sub-Saharan countries.
GATES FOUNDATION SUPPORT AND WEST AFRICA COLLABORATION WITH LEADING INDUSTRY PARTNERS The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation continues to support ClinicalRM and private sector partners for support of Ebola-affected countries. These ongoing studies in West Africa are supported by the Gates Foundation, and in collaboration with some of the world’s leading industry and academia partners: Longitudinal Serosurvey of EVD Survivors & An Adaptive Randomized Trial Platform Comparing Multiple Treatments for Ebola Virus (EBOV) Infected Children and Adults.
NIAID CONTRACT AWARD FOR MICROBIAL THREATS TO PUBLIC HEALTH ClinicalRM is 1 of 3 organizations to receive a NIAID (The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) contract award to support early-stage human clinical trials of investigational infectious disease treatments. The goal of the contract is to accelerate the development of therapeutics to combat existing and potential microbial threats to public health. For more information on this NIH award, click here.
CLINICALRM’S RESPONSE TO THE 2014-2015 EBOLA CRISIS AND CONTINUED EFFORTS ClinicalRM, in collaboration with its international partners, responded rapidly to the Ebola crisis in West Africa. Our experts have been at the very forefront of efforts to combat this infectious disease epidemic. We have set up operationally and logistically in the Ebola hot zone with personnel and full CRO services with our affiliate ClinicalRM-Africa, including shipping Bloodmobiles to the Ebola hot zone, building infrastructure needed for personnel and facilities, and providing on-site training.
We are currently conducting clinical trials, as noted above, in the West Africa region. Dr. Jerry Brown, featured in TIME Magazine December 2014 Issue as Person of the Year for Ebola Fighters, is the clinical lead for these studies and we have received generous funding for these efforts from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. ClinicalRM continues to expand operations in West Africa and work closely with our international partners to respond to the needs of those infected with Ebola, as well as those that have survived infection.

EBOLA SURVIVORS INITIATIVE AND GIVING BACK
Many villages in West Africa have been impacted by the Ebola outbreak, and we are pleased to be partnering with Waves For Water on the Ebola Survivors Initiative project to respond to the needs of these communities. Waves for Water is a charitable organization focusing on proactive measures to deliver safe drinking water for people in impoverished areas. Waves For Water works with world leaders, non-profits, and government agencies to provide large-scale solutions for water filtration systems and alleviate issues related to contaminated drinking water in villages and communities. The Ebola Survivors Initiative will alleviate a portion of the drinking water challenge in Liberia, as these filters will remove bacterial and parasitic contaminants in the water, and provide clean water access to 100,000 people suffering the harsh consequences of water-borne disease.
ClinicalRM and Waves For Water are pleased to sponsor this program. Please click here to watch a video on the Ebola Survivors Initiative.
